Bradley R. Thompson
Bradley Richard Thompson is a leading cross-border Canada/US tax lawyer. Educated in both countries and qualified as a lawyer in both New York and Ontario, Brad has practiced at large international firms in both jurisdictions. Brad now provides comprehensive tax advice to businesses and high net worth individuals with a cross-border Canada/US footprint. Brad has extensive experience with complex corporate transactions in the cross-border and domestic contexts such as M&A transactions, financings, and joint venture structuring. Brad also has deep experience advising families on the individual tax consequences of their cross-border lifestyles. Brad has advised clients in a wide range of industries, including real estate, technology, manufacturing, professional services, and private equity.
Working closely with his clients and their advisors, Brad determines and clearly communicates available options and guides clients to the best tax solution to meet their objectives, in real-time.
Brad completed his Masters of Laws (LL.M. (Taxation)) at New York University School of Law and earned his Bachelor of Civil Law and Bachelor of Laws degree (BCL and LL.B.) (with distinction) from McGill University Faculty of Law (exchange term at Université de Paris II (Panthéon-Assas)). He also has a Master’s Degree in Economics (MA) from Simon Fraser University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics (BA, first-class honours) from McGill University. He has also completed the Canadian CICA in-depth tax course. Upon graduating from law school, Brad was awarded the W.R. Jackett Prize in Taxation and the Stikeman Elliott/Carswell National Tax Award. Brad completed his articles for the Ontario bar clerking for the justices of the Tax Court of Canada.
